As 2014 comes to a close, I'll be doing a few posts that will wrap up the year. One of the big things for me in 2014 was running. I set a goal to run 14 races in 2014, so running certainly took up a lot of my time! When I saw that this week's Tuesdays on the Run link-up was 2014 in Pictures, I thought that'd be a great way to recap all my running this year.
Big thanks to Erika from MCM Mama Runs, Patty from My No-Guilt Life, and April from Run the Great Wide Somewhere for the theme and the link-up! Head over to their blogs to see their 2014 in pictures, as well as the years of other running bloggers around the web!
January
My running in January focused on training to run two half marathons two weeks in a row. I did so by doing back-to-back runs on the weekends, one being a "medium" distance and one being a long run. I also discovered that watching movies or TV shows while running on the treadmill makes the time go by so much faster!
February
The big accomplishment was successfully running the Daytona Beach Half Marathon and the runDisney Princess Half Marathon in back-to-back weeks!
March
I really didn't do too much running in March, but Joe and I did enjoy running together on Sunday afternoons on the beach.
April
April brought about an unexpected half marathon PR in the Lake Minneola Half Marathon!
May
My running in May focused on breaking in our new running buddy! After getting Tequila in late March, we had to train her to run with us. She wasn't very good to run with at first (particularly in the summer time, poor thing!), but now she's able to go about 3 miles when the weather is more mild.
June
July
I set out to PR at the 10K distance in July, but I wasn't successful. I still had a great time running the Suck It Up Buttercup 10K!
August
I went on my first race-cation to run the ZOOMA Chicago Half Marathon!
September
I found out I was pregnant late in August, which gave me an excuse to go light on my running into September. Mid-month, though, I decided to get back to it. I knew that it would be healthy for me and the baby to exercise and made a point to do so at least once a week. My first run back at it wasn't very good, but any run is better than no run!
I started getting more energy once I entered the second trimester and was able to run the Lighthouse Loop Half Marathon at the end of the month.
This was the month of races! I ran one just about every weekend of the month, which was a lot of fun. I did adjust my pace due to the pregnancy, but I feel really accomplished getting in all of these races during the month.
December
I started to see just how much the pregnancy was affecting my running this month during the Ed Root Memorial 10K.
After that race, December has been about focusing on listening to my body and doing what I can do. That's meant a lot more walking, but I need to do what I need to do to keep myself and Baby Fish healthy!2014 was a busy year for me as far as running goes, but overall, it was a great one! I met some goals, set a PR, and had a great time doing it!
Question for you: What did 2014 look like for you on the running front?
Congratulations on all your races. Back to back half marathons...Great job! -L
