WIAW #51: Maternity Leave

Happy Seis de Mayo, y'all!  For those of you who celebrated Cinco de Mayo yesterday, I hope you're feeling ok this morning :)  We had one of Joe's co-workers and his girlfriend over for some pot roast last night, so we didn't partake in anything Mexican.  We will tonight, though, as our new favorite Mexican restaurant has great specials on Wednesday night!

Speaking of Wednesday, let's get back to a Wednesday tradition around the blogging world!

In today's What I Ate Wednesday post, I'm sharing my meals from lunch on Monday to my mid-morning snack on Tuesday.  I meant to do a single full day, but being on maternity leave and taking care of Baby Fish, I kept missing some meals!  So, I am sharing a full day of eats, just over two days!  Plus, my schedule is a little thrown off since Baby Fish really dictates when I'm able to eat.

Thank you to Jenn and Laura for the WIAW link-up!

Lunch
I'm eating lunch around 1-2pm now after feeding the little one around noon each day.  On Monday, I ate some leftover pizza with an apple and some Cheez-Its on the side.  I wanted to grab easy-to-eat things, since I wound up having to feed Baby Fish again while I was eating my own lunch!

Afternoon Snack
I didn't take a picture, but I wound up having more Cheez-Its around 5pm.  I put them in those little baseball hats you can get ice cream in at major league games.  They're the perfect snack-size containers!

Dinner

Around 7pm, Joe and I ate a Crunchy Taco Hamburger Helper dinner with some steamed squash and zucchini on the side.  That meal does not look appetizing, but it was actually pretty tasty!

Evening Snack
Around 10:45, I was hungry again after feeding Baby Fish and putting her to bed, so I had some more Cheez-Its before going to sleep.  It's all about quick and easy portable snacks right now!

Breakfast

Tuesday morning's breakfast was some Special K Protein cereal.  I love the new Cinnamon Brown Sugar Crunch flavor.  So good!  I also had a french vanilla cappuccino (from a K-cup) on the side and typed up yesterday's blog post while eating.

Mid-morning snack

My snack around 11am was some Chobani Greek yogurt.  I LOVE the grape flavor, so I snatch those up in the grocery store whenever I see them!  I enjoyed that before it was time for Baby Fish to wake up from her morning nap and eat again.

There you go!  A typical maternity leave day of eats.  I've adjusted to this new schedule pretty well, and I've also learned to eat when Baby Fish is asleep or fix things I can eat with one hand!

Question for you: What in your life, if anything, dictates when and what you can eat?
People aren't kidding when they say that the baby really does dictate everything!

  1. Mmm, now you're making me want Cheez-Its! They are seriously my weakness! haha. But I love seeing how new mamas figure out their new schedules, since I'll be there myself in just a few weeks! I don't usually keep a lot of snacks (especially healthy ones) in my house, so I should probably work on picking some of those up before Baby Freckle gets here!

  3. You are right that baby dictates everything. I think this part is referred to as survival mode. All of my friends promise it gets better around day 90- I hope so-- happy First Mother's Day this week!
