Happy Easter!

Happy Easter, everyone!  He is risen!

Joe and I went to his grandparents' house with his mom, sister, and brother.  His grandparents and their house are the epitome of Southern Charm.  It's always so fun to visit with them (and the delicious meals certainly don't hurt!).
It was Joe and my first Easter as a married couple, so of course we had to snag a picture.  I was also the designated photographer for the Herring family picture
Joe, his brother Jake, grandmother Harriett, sister Katherine, and cousins Sarah and Kelis
Spending the weekend in Tifton was a great way to end my spring break travels.  Plus, I got some school work done (not as much as I planned for spring break, but some is better than nothing!).  It's back to the grind tomorrow for about two more months of teaching.

Today in church, we sang a song that I think fully embodies the meaning of Easter.  It's a traditional hymn, but a lot of contemporary worship services play it now.  I'd like to share the lyrics with you as my post for the day.

Jesus Paid it All
Lyrics written by Elvina Hall

  1. I hear the Savior say,
    “Thy strength indeed is small;
    Child of weakness, watch and pray,
    Find in Me thine all in all.”

    Jesus paid it all,
    All to Him I owe;
    Sin had left a crimson stain,
    He washed it white as snow.

    For nothing good have I
    Whereby Thy grace to claim;
    I’ll wash my garments white
    In the blood of Calv’ry’s Lamb.

    And now complete in Him,
    My robe, His righteousness,
    Close sheltered ’neath His side,
    I am divinely blest.

    Lord, now indeed I find
    Thy pow’r, and Thine alone,
    Can change the leper’s spots
    And melt the heart of stone.

    When from my dying bed
    My ransomed soul shall rise,
    “Jesus died my soul to save,”
    Shall rend the vaulted skies.

    And when before the throne
    I stand in Him complete,
    I’ll lay my trophies down,
    All down at Jesus’ feet.

It's easy to get swept up in the busy-ness of Easter and not think about what it truly means.  I hope those lyrics will remind you of the real reason for the holiday.

Question of the Day: What's your favorite Easter song?  It can be religious or not.
I think my favorite Easter hymn is "Up From the Grave He Arose", but I didn't get to sing it this Easter since we went to the contemporary service.

  2. That is an awesome song! I think my favorite is "Christ is Risen" by Matt Maher. It is amazing and I want to jump and shout whenever I hear it - especially the later part of the song. Looks like you had a great Easter!
